Momentus Restorative Justice Scales

Momentus Restorative Justice

More than ever before, a great need exists to support teens and families of teens in the juvenile justice system. Juvenile offenders have limited options in many geographical locales across the country.

However, some innovative programs are being developed in Santa Rosa, California with impressive results. Routes For Youth, headed by Dyan Foster and a respected innovator of unique peer based education and violence prevention programs has combined with Daniel Tocchini and Character Development Training Services (CDTS) to produce an experiential training for parents of juvenile offenders called The Parent Council.

ThMomentus Restorative Justice Familye Parent Council training is designed to foster a set of shared experiences focusing on the core principals of accountability, trust, intention and choice. This three-day intensive Training supports parent of juvenile offenders by producing insight into how they can more effectively support and relate to their juvenile offender children.

Another intensive experiential Training is being developed for juvenile offenders who have been arrested multiple times. This Training will be combined with an aftercare mentoring program and is designed to produce maximum results in a short time frame in an attempt to prevent the need for lock up for the juvenile offender participants.

These restorative justice training models will continue to be evaluated over the next year and eventually will be made available to Court Diversion Programs around the country.
